The checkout blind spot

Most Dutch webshops lose 68 % of shoppers between the shopping bag and the confirmation page. You can see the drop in Google Analytics, but you never find out why it happens. Was the delivery cost too high? Did the payment method feel unsafe? Was the form too long?

Without that single piece of feedback, you're guessing. Every abandoned cart at a €45 average order value is revenue that walks out the door — and you don't know which door.

Hidden friction

A mandatory account creation step, an unexpected shipping surcharge, or a confusing address field can break trust in milliseconds. Shoppers simply leave — silently.

Silent objections

When iDEAL isn't the first option, or when return policies are buried in the footer, customers hesitate. They don't fill out a survey; they just close the tab.

Blind optimisation

A/B testing gives you winners and losers, but it never explains the "why." Without qualitative feedback, you're optimising in the dark.

Feedback that appears exactly when it matters

FeedBackNL's checkout widget sits unobtrusively on your order confirmation and cart abandonment pages. It asks one short question — "What almost stopped you from completing your order?" — and captures the answer before the shopper leaves.

The widget integrates with WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, and custom builds via a single JavaScript snippet. No plugin conflicts, no page speed penalties. Answers are tagged by product category, traffic source, and device so you can filter insights in seconds.

One-click micro-survey

Shoppers select from pre-built reasons — "Shipping cost too high," "Wanted to compare prices," "Payment method missing" — or type a free-text answer. Average completion time: 4 seconds.

Real-time dashboard

A live feed of responses, auto-categorised by sentiment and topic. Export to CSV or push directly to your Slack channel every time a critical issue spikes.

GDPR-compliant by default

No cookies, no tracking pixels beyond what your site already uses. Responses are anonymised and stored on servers in Amsterdam, fully compliant with AVG/GDPR.

How SportBeurs.nl turned checkout feedback into €280 k extra revenue

SportBeurs.nl, a Tilburg-based sports equipment webshop with 42 employees and roughly 18 000 monthly orders, had been stuck at a 2.9 % checkout conversion rate for over a year. Their analytics showed a sharp drop at the payment step, but no one knew why.

After installing the FeedBackNL widget on 8 March 2024, they collected 1 847 responses in the first six weeks. The top three reasons for abandonment were: missing PayPal option (34 %), unclear return policy (22 %), and surprise postcode-based shipping surcharges (18 %).

Within four weeks they added PayPal, moved the return policy above the fold, and displayed shipping costs earlier. Their checkout conversion rose from 2.9 % to 3.4 % — a 17 % relative increase that translated to roughly 1 500 extra orders per quarter.

2.9 % → 3.4 % conversion

A five-tenth-point lift at 18 000 monthly orders means ~900 additional completed checkouts every month.

€280 k quarterly uplift

At an average order value of €64, those extra orders added approximately €280 000 in gross revenue per quarter during the first six months.

14-day payback period

With the Pro plan at €149 / month, the widget paid for itself in less than two weeks based on incremental revenue alone.

"We always thought our checkout was fine. The widget showed us exactly where we were losing people — and the fix cost us less than one day of development time." — Mark de Vries, E-commerce Manager at SportBeurs.nl
